Avatar Makeup Filter (2023)

NYX Avatar: The Way of Water Makeup Collection | Spark AR

Create an AR advertising campaign to advertise NYX Cosmetics latest limited edition collection, the Avatar: The Way of Water collection. The experience should be easily accessible and available for use on Facebook and Instagram.

Problem Statement

Many AR makeup try-on filters struggle with inclusivity, accommodating only a limited range of skin tones and face shapes because of the lack of diversity in the data used during development. On top of that, the UI design in many of these filters is often not user-friendly, with sliders and selection tools that are hard to handle or overly complicated.

Final Thoughts

Creating this Avatar Makeup Filter has been a rewarding experience, allowing me to address a common issue many encounter with makeup filters: a lack of accuracy and practicality. By prioritizing user feedback and research, I developed a filter that not only highlights the makeup collection but also enables users to realistically test products they might want to purchase.

One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned throughout this journey is the critical role of user feedback and iterative design. While gathering input and meeting diverse user needs can be challenging, the effort ultimately leads to a product that is both accessible and enjoyable for a wide audience.

I’m excited to continue refining this project and exploring new possibilities with AR technology, pushing the boundaries of what digital tools can achieve in enhancing user experience.
